Do they have any teeth? My daughter (8 mo. today) loves the Gerber puffs and the pin wheels. We also give her the biter biscuits and zwieback toast to gnaw (she's getting ready to get her 1st tooth). We also just tried the yogurt bites by Gerber and she really likes those. My pediatrician told me as long as it is small enough and she can gnaw on it then she can eat it. You could probably do any veggie that is bite size or macaroni. I have given Madyson little pieces of apples to gnaw on (the size of my pinky). Anyway as long as your child is able to gnaw and use his tongue pretty well I would say anything goes. Good Luck!! :)

Ella likes the mum mums- I got them at Walmart. It's the only finger food she's tried. This isn't finger food per se, but have you tried the mesh fresh food teether things? (Yes that's the technical term. Haha. I can't remember what they're called!) They're shaped like a rattle but with a mesh bag on the end, and you can put fresh food inside for baby to chew on. They get the fruit through the mesh holes but no chunks can get through so no risk for choking. They make a big mess but are so fun! Ella loves bananas in the feeder. I want to try peaches and grapes for her next. Yum!

My baby girl is 7 months now and she loves Cerrios and the Apple Puffs and she is even getting the hang of it. She can put it in her own mouth. She has no teeth either. She loves her fruit and veggies also.

I'm also a nervous Nelly! My Alex has had mashed potatoes and Baby Mum Mums, and the big pretzel sticks with no salt, but I am scared to give him other things. Reading all your responses here has given me inspiration to try some new stuff! Thanks ladies!

Rylee has no teeth yet either.  I am a little worried about giving foods.  I have given her the Gerber puffs and yougurt and Baby Mum Mums.  All of those melt in your mouth.  I am anxious to try other things though.

Kendra will eat whatever we give her! She doesn't have teeth but she just gums everything down. She has refused baby food from the beginning. Has anyone else run into this?

Aeryn eats the puffs, yogurt melts, biter biscuits, small bits of hamburger, cottage cheese, steamed carrot cubes (Veg-All is great for this age of self feeding), biscuit guts (the soft part from inside home made biscuits).

My soon-to-be 8 month old likes the Gerber Puffs, I break them into pieces.  I just bought the Yogurt Melts and those are bigger, so I break them into 3's.  He has had alot of table food.  soup, tator tot casserole, tuna casserole, spaghetti, mac n cheese, scrambled eggs.  I was putting it all into the food mill, but it doesn't seem to work well, so I mash it will my fork.  He plays with it more.  I know that its good for him to learn to use his fingers.  I'm not ready for all the mess yet!! :)

I did buy an all plastic spoon so he can learn/play with that when I feed him.  I just didn't like him chewing on the metal handle of the spoon I use.

He does love chewing on my wooden cooking spoon and measuring cups!

I haven't tried any chunky foods yet - I'm so worried he'll choke! What should I try first? He's a little over 7 months old and no teeth :)

My daughter loves fruit! I just cut it up and stem it for a few minutes to soften it up (she doesn't have any teeth yet). I also just bought some canned fruit, the kind in juice not syrup and she loves it. She needs help still but it's going well.

my son has one tooth, and is about to pop through another one..he likes the gerber yogurt melts, and he loves the biter biscuits, but beware, they are a HUGE mess..
he also really likes lemons...apparently a lot of babies do..that was a surprise...but i gave him a slice of lemon, and he loved it...and like thin slices of fruit he really likes...
i was a little scared of anything small enough to fit in his mouth that wouldn't dissolve right away..but i think i may try the puffs and pinwheels..i think he'll like those a lot...

My little man has not cut any teeth yet (he's almost 8mths) but he gnaws like mad on just about anything.... I give him things like teething rusks, milk arrowroot biscuits, pieces of fruit like rockmelon (i think you call it cantelope??), he's had sandwhiches with the crust cut off, bits of plain cooked pasta/spaghetti that he feeds himself.
