From a personal perspective.....I think that organic products for baby are awesome.....especially if your child is breastfed.....think about it.....your milk is pretty organic i would say.....and for one reason or anoth I find although he now gets cereal and fruit along with yogurt......any food or formula he takes in is organic......he has never been sick or had an allergy to any of the products and his poops seem so much less wasteful and wholesome.......I have spoken with a few other moms and they all have children which have been fed organics since birth and they are all now on average 2 years old and have yet to be sick......i dont know if it is sheer coincidence but seems to me food has some kind of correlation. And as far as $ is concerned when you really add it all up....for the benefits it is actually not much more.....we are talking cents more than the chemical/preservative filled crap they put on the shelves.......let me know what you think especially if you are an advocate of going organic.

I agree...my daughter gets all organic baby food/oatmeal. As for the rest of the family, we drink organic milk, and try to buy other things organic when we can afford to. I am a big believer in consuming natural, whole foods.

Looking at all the replies I take it you're all in the US. I'm English and our weaning guidelines are different so over here we don't give food until 6 months, so my baby is still being exclusively breastfed, but I totally agree with you on the organic thing and Millie will only be fed organic in 3 weeks time when she hits 6 months. There's no way I'll be feeding her any of the chemical covered crap they sell here just to save money.

my son is 5 mos too....so fun isnt it! is this ur 1st baby? he is mine and I love everybit of it....and dont believe the hype taht only certain foods can be organic......there are as many foods in an organic grocery store as teh regular everyday grocery store.....who wants to eat processed chemical filled garbage??? Not I and I damn sure am not gonna feed my child that crap......I know one thing if I could have done the organic thing sooner as far as myself is concerned I definitely would have a long time ago.....cost is not that much difference and the health benefits far outweigh the cost. And congrats carmela on breastfeeding and organics! it makes a world of a difference!

I totally agree with you.  I am breastfeeding my baby and I've decided to make his food...organic of course...and if I don't make it I will buy organic baby food. My son is now 5 months and thank goodness no major issues.  I give him organic cereals now and he loves them.  Thanks for posting that.

yeah like big people cereals are "fortified" with vitamins and really can be "all natural" but not totally organic but either way....I try and eat as much organic as possible so he gets the best milk but of course there are some things I just dont get that are regular products....either way. I think that organic is the best way to go......

Hi Rachel, I agree that organics is best but unfortunately we cannot avoid not feeding our two year old organics all the time...I feed myself the junk and my son the good stuff but he manages to steal from my plate! I also read somewhere that anything that has to be processed to a state like cereals - cannot be organic, only fruits and veggies in the cans or bottles can be organic...I don't know, must be some truth to it, I mean cereal cannot be 100% organic.

That is awesome.....If you have Hanaford Supermarkets in your area they also carry an exclusive less expensive brand of organic formula......I like the similac organic....as far as his solids.....i give him earth's best, gerber organics and stonyfield organic yobaby......along with an organic cereal which I switch from brand to brand..........as far as vaccines.....well.......that varies from person 2 person i guess......i dont really agree w/ them either

I agree...unfortunately breast feeding did not work out with our twins but I think that organic is even more important for them because of this.  We use Parent's Choice Organic formula from Walmart and love it - half the price of Earth's Best!  Our babies have not been sick yet - knock on wood - but they are also only 5 months old.

We're also not vaccinating and hope that it keeps their immune systems nice and healthy.  I've read from other moms with a fist child that was vaxed and subsequent children who weren't, that the unvaxed child(ren) were sick less than the vaxed child.
