Making formula

[deleted account] ( 5 moms have responded )

My daughter was a preemie and was on a feeding tube for a while after birth, so breast feeding was out. She's been on formula for the past two months and I'm so tired of making bottles!!!! I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for making the process easier. It seems like I am constantly making bottles. Help!!!

you can buy premixed formula in cartoons they are so handy. all you av to do is pour in the bottle and warm it up they are great

There are some formulas that you can make up ahead of time and keep in the fridge for up to 48hrs. I know that similac is one of them. If you cut the lable off the can of formula it says if you can or not. I was using nestle formula but switched because with that brand it apparently has to be used immediately and will not keep. Hope this helps, making a big batch is the easiest!

it does stink. i hate it, too. i remember with my 2 year old daughter, being so glad when she started on whole milk from sippy cups. i packed those bottles up and dreaded bringing them back out for this one. tried breast feeding, but didn't work for various reasons. just keep it up, it'll be over soon. we had our oldest daughter on sippy cups at 10 months. she never took another bottle :) it was such a relief

I usually find that prep is the key...I have boiled water sitting on hand in a pitcher and I use those little formula dispenser containers...so the formula powder is already pre-measured for my son's bottles - ie) 2 1/2 scoops pre-measured for his 5oz bottles. I also have the water pre-filled into the bottles...This way - when the man is hungry - I just have to dump in the powder - shake, warm and he's ready to go. It's always a bit of a pain - but I usually only have to wash bottles and pre-prep stuff once a day - so it's not a constant battle! Hope this helps! ;0)

i nursed my first 3 kids and this bottle thing is for the BIRDS!! i've been taking a big measuring cup and mixing up a good batch all at once then refilling the bottle a few times then start with a fresh one. probably not the "right" way to do it but i use doc brown bottles and can never seem to find all the parts for a big batch of bottles at once.
