Sleep issues?

Our twin boys are 23 months old. We made the mistake of rocking them right to sleep. We had them going to bed with us sitting in the room moving toward the door and we were sitting right at the doorway then went on vacation last year. Since then, our sons have not gone to bed good. Our doctor told us to give them a bottle of milk and put them into bed which we did. Now we are trying to wean them off of that bottle AND get them to bed at a decent time - some nights it is 8:30 some 11:30. Then they wake during the night. Any suggestions would be helpful.

naps can affect their sleep schedule. i get my son up at 8. Feed him breakfast, play outside, eat lunch, then let him take a nap from 1 to 2. after nap its more playing. outside really weres them out. the i feed him supper give him a bath, then bed time around 9. he also gets a cup at 8 and after that no more cups. it seems to work great. if that dont work try ignoring them. if you dont pay them attention they forget about it and fall asleep.

I also rock(ed) my daughter. She just goes to sleep so much quicker that way - but I don't know if I am helping or hurting her more that way....I feel like I can rock her for 5-10 min or let her scream for 30+ ??? How long of a nap are they taking? That could affect their bedtime....

Also, I do have a friend with 1-yr old twins & she gives them milk & then just puts them in bed (together) and lets them cry/fight it out & they usually go to bed in about 20 I guess it works, but all kids are who knows! Good luck!!
