My son is 5 mos and has never had juice. If he had a digestive issue I would try it, but other than that, I would stick with milk/formula or water. Even real juice has a lot of sugar and nowhere near the nutrients of actual fruit. I would be careful if you do need to serve your baby juice - you don't want him/her to get hooked on it in the long run because drinking it all the time can end up causing early tooth decay problems (it happened to both of my husband's sisters).

My son will be 6 months in less than a week and I have been giving him diluted juicy juice for about 2 weeks now. He loves his juice! I usually give 4oz (2 juice, 2 water) after he eats baby food instead of him having baby food and formula together.

I really would not recommend juice unless you juice it yourself, and even then i would dilute it quite a lot. Water is the best. There is so much added sugar in most juice brands it's not good for them.

I dilute organic juice form the supermarket DO NOT USE ORANGE JUICE OR PINEAPPLE as these will wash baby out (only to use in small amounts if baby is constipated) My little girl, 25 weeks, has Prune juice 1oz juice 5oz's cooled boiled water or apple juice. i brought her the tommee tippee 4m+ cup thing she wasnt impressed because it doesnt have a teat as such, now she uses a cheap brand of bottle and loves it ... Only other thing to remember is if baby is bottle fed and is on stage 2 or 3 teats water is a thinner consistency than milk so use a slow flow teat to start else baby will choke! :) hope that helps? x

I have been giving my 5-month old juice since he was about 3 months. The doctor said it was okay to start him on about 2 oz. I wouldn't recommend diluting it as long as it is baby juice. I usually give it to him when he either has the hiccups or after a poop because it keeps him from being dehydrated. Make sure it is room temperature too; if it's cold, they may get gas.

My lil girl is 5 months old and I have been giving her diluted juice for a month now. I make it myself from fresh fruits ( usually pawpaw) and really dilute it. Just once a day and she loves it!

i started giving him juice a few weeks ago. i only give him about 1 oz juice diluted with water about once a week. i figure it's a new taste and it helps keep him from getting constipated since we have introduced rice cereal

I give my five month old son juice in a sippy. I do 1oz. juice to 2oz. water he loves it.I have given him Gerber's apple, white grape, and pear. My doctor recommended a little because he was having trouble "going" if you know what I mean. I think the juice and prunes have both helped. I think ultimately it is all up to you, you are his mom and YOU know best. I also have tried many sippy cups and I have had the best luck with the born free one because it is easy for him to drink from. He is five months and has masted the sippy cup, I am impressed because my older son didn't get the hang of it until about six and a half months.

I give my son juice he turns 5 months tomorrow. He drinks the Gerbers little juices. I asked my ped if it was too soon and he stated they ask to wait until 6 months so the juice doesn't become a priority over the formula. I make sure he drinks his formula and if he's thirsty a few hours later he drinks a little juice.

P.s Cow and Gate and 'Hipp Organic' baby juices are designed for babys and are ready to drink, you dont need to dilute them. They also have no sugar etc in them, so they will not cause tooth decay etc. I got my son a Tomme Tippee 4 month+ sippy cup and I hold the cup and tip it gently whilst he drinks, he has already started reaching for the cup handles himself and occasionally tries to hold it and feed himself. He is 5months and 4days.

You can get baby juice from Tesco etc baby ailes. If you want to give your baby juice, these juices are great to start on as they are specially designed for babys. My son loves them. I think most of the baby juices are fine to give from 4 months upwards :o)

My doc told me to wait until my baby is 6 months,, Starting with vigies first then slowly introducing fruits. i think you should consult your doc.

I would wait till they are 6mths old till you give them juice. As long as you are only givinh them pure fruit juice, no cocktail style juices, they are full of sugar. You don't need to worry about diluting it once they are 6mths and it's pure fruit juice, their tummy can handle it. I study child development & nutrition cause I work in child care and this is what I have learn't.

I just this morning added a teeny tiny splash of gerber's 100% pear juice in my son's rice cereal. I did it mostly b/c he's had a tummy ache and the pear juice is supposed to help w/ that, but also b/c he does not like the flavor of the cereal. I do plan on putting a teeny tiny splash mixed with mostly water into a sippy cup this weekend for some practice. I realize he won't master the sippy cup for a while so I'm not too worried about the juice intake. But I do agree w/ the above poster that juice really isn't necessary for quite some time, but it's a personal preference, really.

I wouldnt suggest giving your baby dialuted juice, just water will do, It will be a novelty anyways, because its a sippy cup. i didnt give my older son juice til he was at least a year old, water is much better for them no added sugars or preservatives.
