Hi guys!

My gorgeous son is fast approaching the big 1!!! I have NO idea what kind of cake I should make...AARRRGGHHH...I don't know why but I'm stressing about it because as a child the cake was always very important to me...My mum always made me and my siblings a cake every year and wrote down underneath the recipe who and what age we had each cake...A tradition I would love to continue. So another question...does anyone know of a good childrens cake book??? any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone who responds!!!

My mother has a few cake recipe books that I borrow quite often and I think they are Golden Circle or something like that, but Im sure you could find them in a bookstore or the like. Pick a theme, something you know he likes, or if there's nothing jumping out at you, try and think of his fave colours, animals, etc and brainstorm from there. I only have one boy and 4 girls, so their 1st birthday cakes were a purple Teletubby for my son (he's nearly 10, they were popular back then lol) the two middle girls both had a beautiful butterfly, but we changed the colours we used, my third daughter had an awesome giraffe, as we had a jungle animal theme, my last daughter is 11 months so is also approaching the big1! As I have so many, I sorta stopped liking the idea of making their cakes, although my sister is really arty, so between me, her, my husband and my mother, we do ok! We have made the teletubby, the butterflies, giraffe, a blue whale, a Tinkerbell, a Snow White, a baby's basket, the list goes on... Hope this helps!
