My son has PDD-NOS but could be Aspergers. He makes these "sound effects" and moves toys or other objects around in his hands at a very fast pace. He doesn't just make sounds but also speaks. He is very verbal (but started speaking at 2.7 yrs). These sound effects get on every nerve of mine and sometimes I just can't take it anymore. I believe that this is his form of stimming or bordem but I'm not exactly sure. Could this just be that his brain is working so much that he has lots that he needs to get out or is it that he just feels the need to do this. How can I get him to stop or settle this down a bit? He doesn't do it at school or in public (a lot) but mostly at home.

My daughter does it too and yeah apparently normal she almost zones out completley when she does it we've been told the noise is like a drug for them sending them to a happy place as long as u can interupt the session and get some attention then its all fine. It can really get annoying esp when ur wanting peace and quiet or trying to consentrait but it is just one of there quirks if it gets to much try downloading a white noise player on your phone or I player and have it as background noise it can help to calm them just enough to stop making the noises

Sometimes they can control it but other times they don't even realize they are doing it. I just tune it out because I think if they are entertaining themselves...perfect...lol :)
