Toddler Bed Nightmare....

Our daughter is 21 months old, and because we have another baby on the way (mid Nov.) I felt it was time to try moving her to a toddler bed. The first two nights went great, not once did she try and get up. On the third night however it took us forever to get her to stay in bed and go to sleep. We followed all the advise on being persistant and placing her back in bed everytime she climbed out, until she finally went to sleep. Then at 2am she woke again, and refused to go back to sleep. Eventually we had to resort to sleeping on the floor beside her bed just to get her to stay in it, but even then she barely slept. When she did finally sleep it would only be for short periods of time and she would wake-up screaming. At about 6am we finally let her get up for the day. Naptimes were not as much of an issue because they weren't as long of a stretch of sleep.
After 5 nights of this horrible routine, we finally gave up and put her back in a crib. I was just wondering if anyone else has had a similar situation, and if so how did you deal with it?

My little man is 2 1/2 and loved his new big boy bed for several months...then he decided it was much more fun to get up and play..! We did all the going back upstairs, putting him back to bed etc etc...totally tiring and no evenings to ourselves...then I realised that during the day time nap if he did this I would just shout up to him to get back into bed. He would usually do this so I started doing this at night..that way it didn't turn into a game for him by getting our complete did the trick for us though in fairness it doesn't always happen every night but some is better than none eh! I also brought bedtime forward by half an hour earlier and that really helped..he always seemed to get a second wind and so this way I catch him before the energy kicks in...good luck!
