My daughter thinks its funny to cough and will fake cough at you but now I believe it to be real. When do you take them to the dr for this?

Alison, just curious why it takes all day to see the doc by you--where do youlive?? Off the subject, but health insurance is so expensive here in the US..but the health care is great. Not sure if things here are about to change tho...

Read this cough & cold page from Dr. Sears. I have found it to be SOOOOO helpful. Around here, it takes pretty much your whole day when you want to see a doctor, so I avoid it whenever I can!

If she is only coughing, but her general state is fine, she is probably fine. Watch for tugging (little dents under the ribs when she inhales). Tugging is a sign that you should see a doctor.

I would at least call your doctor and see what they think. My son had RSV when he was about 6 weeks old so now anytime that he gets a cough it usually turns into bronchitius or pnemonia so we go to the doctor frequently. It just depends on your child and if there is a fever or any differance in her eating/drinking and if she is not playing, if she has any of those I would say at least call or just make an appoinment. Good Luck.

Hi Misty, My son has a cold and has been coughing, has runny nose, fever etc.. So it's normal cold symptoms. But if your daughter just has a cough don't delay take her to the Dr as Whooping Cough is something that is fatal in little ones. So for reassurance don't wait, there's no right time.

P.S I took my boys to Dr and all is clear. One is 14months and other 2months.
