My son is almost 6months old. People ask me why I havent gave him juice yet, its not a big thing for me, I know what it does to their teeth and they dont want water after they get juice all the time... So do I need to give juice to him? He gets water at feedings and formula the rest of the time.

What is your opinion on juice?!

up to 9 months your baby doesnt need anything but formula and water. Juices contain sugar, which might cause decay of coming teeth. If however u decide to give juices - 1 part of juice should be deluted in 10 parts of water.

i dont see the point to most juice.... (i refuse to drink water i think it tastes awful! so i only give water to my daughter i dont want her being picky like me).. i give her prune juice on the recamendation of the doctor because she gets constapated often. so thats the only juice that i see as useful .. eventually i will let her have different types of juice but i dont see a need for it yet but it really doesn't matter one way or the other if you dont want to start early then don't let other people guilt you into it!

It is definetely not recommended to give your baby juice at such a young age. There is no need for it. I kept my oldest away from juice until he was about 15 months, now he is 3 and he loves it. I still water it down each time, half and half. As far as water babies don't actually need that either unless they are out in a very hot environment, according to my doctor. But there is nothing wrong with water, juice can affect their teeth with all the sugar in it.

My son is 6 months and I also dont' think I will be giving him juice, maybe once in a while watered down. I see my nieces and nephews all they drink most of the time is juice and I don't really like that, especially the juices that r not 100% fruit. My sister is always telling me 'why dont u give him this or that" I just say sure and then do what I feel is right for my baby and I.

with my first i gave her juice at 5 months. My daughter only wanted juice after that. I wont be doing that for my new baby. She wont be getting juice at all if i can get away with it. Its pure sugar and addicting to. I have to beg for her to drink her milk at age 2 and she refuses water.

My nephew wouldn't drink anything but juice for years.. So I am kind of hoping to stay away from the juice for as long as possible. My son likes water which he only gets when he eats baby food... Plus he is 20pounds now and I don't think I want to add juice that will just add pounds haha and he is heavy enough!!

I'm not a fan of juice either. My 2 year old still drinks watered down juice! I know sometimes people have to use juice because of constipation issues and such, but water and formula is all I give.

I thought about giving my babyboy juice, but decided against it- he loves his fruit and as its 90s here, loves cool water. Plus juice is sticky and messy... and some juices can stain clothing- i didnt want that mess...

Hey shauda stick to water and what u think is right. bub can get juice from the fruit u give him and keep juice as a treat for when he gets older. My bub loves water at feedings and when she's thirsty. i only gave water to my first who is 11yrs now and she only drinks water and occasional juice and softdrnks on special occasions. and agree on what it does to the teeth. have a good day.

I don't think you need to give it to your baby. I think I will be sticking to water and bm/formula.
