My little boy is 5weeks today and has a terrible pimple rash all over his face and head! Could this also be hormones? I stopped putting Moisturising lotion on his face after his baths, what else can i do to make it dissapear?

its actually normal for babies to get that, not all babies but a lot, it should just go away on its own, but dont try to scratch them or pop them as its painful for them and can leave scarring, Hope this helps.

infant acne is totally normal and will disappear by the time they are a couple of months old. my little one has this too. my midwife just said it was due to the hormones passed through the breastmilk. one thing that i think helped immensely with my son was putting a little breastmilk on them. its wondrous stuff :) lol ... it will resolve itself... don't pick them!!

My doctor recommended aquaphor too. I just started trying it today, but there a ton of uses for it! My hands were really dry and cracked and they burned, but I put some aquaphor on it and they're already better.

My son went through the same thing and it's typical for newborns to get baby acne. I found what worked for my son was Mustela Foam Shampoo for Newborns (I got at Babies-R-Us). It's a foaming hair shampoo made for cradle cap, which by the way worked amazing on cradle cap, but I also noticed it cleared up his baby ance on his head. So I tried it on his face too and within a couple of days it was gone. Good Luck!

there is a cream a doctor cud give if its a rash otherwise its normal. stop putting the lotion on his face that could be the problem. use Ammens medicated powder for it to go faster it worked for me.

OMG, mine is 6wks old and his has the same rash all over his face, ears and behind his ears. We stop using ALL baby products to wash him. The pedi recommended using DOVE for sensitve skin, also use Eucerin. Its starting to look a bit better. I know how you feel about seen your baby like that. My heart goes out to you. :-(

My daughter had the baby acne for about 2 months. Her doctor said that it should be gone by 3 months. He did say that there was a medicine you could get but that the doctor would have to write a prescription for it. He also said to use 1% Hydrocortisone. It dries it up and it doesn't look so bad.

Quoting Jennifer:

Use Aquaphor for babies! I had the same thing with my little girl and Aquaphor was a miracle. Her face cleared up within literally two days!

I'd also like to add that I now use Aquaphor regularly to prevent reccurence and whenever she scratches her face, I put a little on it and it heals up usually within a day.  I love this stuff!  Its pricey, but a little goes a long way.

P.S.  My pediatrician recommended it.  He also informed me that regular baby lotion is a poor moisturizer due to the fact that one of the principle ingredients is alcohol.

My little guy had this also. It seems like it is never going to go away, and it starts to look better, then comes right back!! Just wait it out....and try Aveeno Baby Eczema Cream to reduce redness....and just keep his face clean and pat dry. It is from hormones left over from being int he womb...nothing will clear it, it just has to run it's course.

Are you breast feeding? It happened to my baby too. My doctor told me that the reason that it happened was the hormones in my breast milk. It will eventually go away.

Babies' skin gets pretty funky looking before it gets better. The pimply rash is pretty normal it is usually due to hormones and so is peeling. You shouldn't need to use the lotion because their skin naturally has alot of oil. I remember my daughter's skin was like this until she was about 2 1/2 - 3 months old.

Newborns will have this white spot like a white head. Its normal. Don't pick them. It will go away. Do nothing. Babies really don't need powder and lotion. It's the mom that likes it. It's called milia.

Totally normal, simply wash his face over with a face washer/cloth, do not under any circumstances squeeze them. They will go away in their own time. hang in there! Most often caused by hormones being passed through your breast milk to the bub. Your body settles down, so will his face, all will be fine.

Its just baby acne, and it takes a little while to go away. I think Braydens cleared up by the time he was two months. Ped said to just wash with a warm wash cloth daily, but not to use soap or put any lotions on it. Once it started clearing up, it was gone in a couple days. I know it looks bad, but it is more common than you think.

just wait it out. my daughter had it too when she was about 6-7wks old. it was all red with white heads on some. the heat seemed to make it worse too. i did though stop using scented detergent and fabric softer, scented lotions and bath gel, just in case. within 2wks it went away completely. just wait it out. it's hard to wait and be patient, but it will go away. my pediatrician says it's from the hormones that gets passed from us. bummer...

Both my boys were diagnosed with Infant Acne by a paediatric dermatoligist when the 'hormone rash' didn't go away as every one told me it would. My oldest at 6 weeks looked like a 16 year old going through puberty! I had to apply a preventative perscription acne cream every night. It's caused by surges in testosterone and true infant acne only occurs in boys. If it doesn't look like it's going away, get a referral and see somene. The earlier the better!

If they start to look angry and very red and you are breastfeeding, put a little breast milk on them. It really does sooth them. They will go away on their own when their hormones settle.

just like everyone else says it is normal a lot of babies get it including three of mine. It will go away on its own.

Baby acne. It will go away on it's own. I have always heard if you leave it be, it will leave faster on it's own! Both of mine had it. Totally normal for a while. My son still gets one every once in a while.

You can clean his face with a damp cloth, but it will go away on it's own. It is indeed the hormones!

My daughter was born with the same thing. I know it looks bad, but it does get better. We used Cetaphil's face wash & face lotion, it really helped a lot! You can get it over the counter and it's suppose to be gentle enough for their skin...

Infant acne- resulting from immature oil glands and your hormones he was exposed to while in the womb. Leave it alone, don't do anything aside from normal skincare. It'll go away in a few weeks by itself.
