If its the 'Micronor' which is the mini pill...you can take it right away. You have to be careful while on this pill. My OB told me that you have to take it at the same time every day. The effectiveness drops if you dont!! and unlike the regular pill..you dont stop taking pills for that week..you continue onto the next pack when you are done.

and yes....you can definately get pregnant while breastfeeding!! and while on the mini pill if not used correctly!!

My Dr. told me that it is possible to get pregnant while breast feeding.. and the period is totally based on your body.

So I should probably take extra precautions for the first month or so...

I am on the same pill and I started taking mine the day I got it. Like a Wednesday or something. I havent had a period since having my son over 3 months ago. It doesnt matter when you start taking it as long as you place the extra sticker with the day of the week you started it on! And, you have to make sure to take it around the same time each day, no more than an hour apart.. AND be breastfeeding, in order for you to not become pregnant. Also, it usually take about a month for the pill to kick in and prevent.

Quoting Jessica:

breastfeeding does not protect you at all from getting your period or getting pregnant.

if its the mini pill(only 1 hormone and no sugar pills) u can start taking it straight away, if its the pill with 2 hormones and sugar pills then i think you have to wait tilll ur next period.

Just start on Sunday :) And I "BELIEVE" you have to take them for about a month before you have intercourse... even with breastfeeding you aren't completely covered until then.

If you have any questions I'd give your doctor a call :) I havent had my period in 8 months (breastfeeding 100%) so the 'taking after your period' never worked for me either.

It's almost alway the Sunday after your period.

Since I'm not getting mine the Doc told me any Sunday.
