both of my sons have or had issues pooping. My five month old still has issues, the doctor has me a just alittle bit of prune juice to his bottles and this seems to work really well. I even add it to his cereal since that seems to make it hard for him to poop also. Good luck!!

When my daughter got constipated, the doctor told us to just add a little (about a teaspoon) of Karo light corn syrup to her bottle. Haven't had a problem since.

I had the same problem... I used prune juice at 3 weeks old... Perfectly fine!!! Also take a rectal thermometer place some petroleum jelly on it and gentle move it around in a circular motion to stimulate the muscles down there :)

Sandra:
Obviously if she was able to or chose to breastfeed she would be. I don't think your answer was very helpful.

Amanda:
Why are you switching him? If the new formula is making him constipated can you just switch him back? Also, if it is an iron fortified formula that can often cause constipation. I had this issue with my son and I just switched to the non iron fortified version of the same formula, that worked great.

1 tbs of dark kerosyrup mixed with 2oz of water. that's what my dr. said to use and it worked great on my son. He also started on the lacto free formula. The soy formula constipates them.

Prunes and pear baby food worked wonders when my son was constipated! That and water.

My Dr. recommended 1/2 ounce of apple juice and 1/2 ounce of water in regular bottle of formula. Worked wonders on my 2 month old!

Giving cooled boiled water may help but if your son won't drink it like mine the doctor recommended putting a tiny drop of fresh orange juice in it and he'll drink it that way.

If he is truely constpated and only producing small, hard, pellet-like poop, then your son needs to see a doctor.

Depending on his age, I don't recommend juice if he is too young. A LITTLE bit of warm water helps some people.

I used glycerin suppositories to help my son, we didn't put them all the way in, just stimulated the area. If you do that, be careful not to very often as he could become dependent on them.

The best thing to do would be to call your son's doctor. They have his medical file, no one here does!

My son couldn't handle the soy, it made his reflux worse. Hopefully your son will get used to it!

When was the last time he pooped? How was the consistency?
