Did anyone have a forceps delivery because their baby got stuck?

I had a very long and difficult labour with my son, Jake, who is now nearly 10 months old.
I was a week overdue, and was due to go into the clinic for a membrane sweep the day my labour started naturally. Although, it didn't go smoothly from there.
Our local hospital told me to stay at home until the contractions got stronger and closer together, but what they didn't know was that I was in agony from the very beginning. I couldn't even stand up.
After 8 hours at home, I went in and found I was 7cm dilated. My waters hadn't yet broken, so a midwife broke them, and the pain got even worse. But baby Jake was stuck. The midwives made me push for 4 hours, until suddenly surgeons came running in and took me to theatre.
I had a forceps delivery with an epidural. Jake's heartbeat was dropping and my blood pressure was sky high. I've never been so scared in my life. For 19 hours I survived on gas and air.
I'm just wondering if anyone else had a problem birth? I still think about this all the time, and just pray it doesn't happen with my next one!

My twelve year old was delivered with forceps. I pushed and pushed and pushed, but I needed that extra bit of help getting that head out. His little head was slighty bruised and I was not very happy about that. He was fine afterwards and still is. When I delivered my now 3 month old I did not have those nasty things. In comparison her head was smaller than Zuriel's at birth. Both of my labor/deliveries were 12hours and both were different. So there's hope that your next labor/delivery will go smoothly. Best Wishes! Beautiful Son.
