Different periods after birth?

I am just wondering if this is normal or not. I had my first period after having my c-section and it was really light, lighter than usual. I used to be a light period kind of girl, almost no cramping or irritability. But my second period was super heavy, lots of cramping, and I was a complete bear to be around. I wasn't bleeding more than other women do, just more than I used to. I had also been on birth control pills that month, so I expected a regular, light period. Anyone else notice changes in their monthly after having a baby?

i have the opposite, used to have terrible periods, lots of bleeding, bad mood swings, would have bad cramps and indigestion the whole week. now, nine monnths after birth, i have really easy light period with a lot less symptoms. i am so paranoid though thinking that this is not normal and worried they will get bad again.

Mine returned to normal about 6 months after giving birth! It took 8 weeks for me to have my first period & then i had a period every 2 weeks for 3 months! I bled heavier than normal & thats after losing over 3 pints of blood from a hemorrhage!

I also had a bleed 6 weeks after having a baby cause I had been doing to much

absoluteley!!

i never ever ever have worn super tampons and around 5 and 6 months my period was so heavy i had to change my tampon almost every 3 hours and wear supers, and i would still leak through. but the 7 month is doing much much better, its normal as usual. i was told by my doctors nurse that you are starting to create estrogen again (particularly if you were breastfeeding this will happen later than if you don't breastfeed) because your body is changing again and the estrogen is increasing it causes heavier periods.

I was one of the unlucky moms, had a vaginal birth, preemie baby, in NICU for 3 months, although I pumped, I got my period 2 months after giving birth and it was holy hell!!!! The first few months consisted of super heavy bleeding, almost fainted a couple times, lasted 7-10 days but gradually, went back to normal until I decided to go on the "mini pill" mircronor birth control since I am nursing and now I dont' know what happened to my period. Had some spotting and nothing more.

After I had my first son vaginally, mine got alot lighter. After my second son via c-section, it got even lighter yet. I do get really bad cramps sometimes and I never used to get any at all.

Thanks for sharing, ladies. It's really nice to hear it's not strange for things to change after babies!

I think the first few cycles can take a while to get back to "normal", especially if you're on bc which will cause changes with hormones and such. I had a vaginal birth and breastfed and didn't get my period until 8 months after... it was on the light side. The second one (I've only had two so far) was waaaaaay heavier than I remember mine being pre-pregnancy ... but it was so weird because I had almost no cramps. Normally that heavy of bleeding for me would have me in a lot of pain from cramps. Who knows what the next one will be like!

after a c-section myself and breastfeeding it toook 3mos to come back but has been just a bit heavier since - i also have different (or more intense?) PMS - i now get very irritable every say 3 to 4 out of 5 periods - and sometimes it is like a burst of irritability/anger over nothing but worse than before the pregnancy - i used to get headaches but now never do so far - i may have had cramps the first or second period after but i don't recall, now i hardly cramp - i had thought some changes might have been temporary but now that i have had about 11 periods i guess the changes are here to stay - i could really do without the emotional symptoms though - my husband thinks i am crazy and i feel like i am LOL
