Ear Piercing

What age is a good age for ear piercing? I was told to wait until my 7 week old gets her first round of shots. What do you think?

It is up to you to decide on when. I had my daughters ears pierced when she was 10 wks old (after her 1st round of shots). She is 4 months old now. I cleaned them 3x a day for 3 weeks and she has had no problems. I wanted to go ahead and do it because I like the way it looks. If she chooses to not have them pierced she can take them out, but a lot of little girls will choose to have it done, rather than not. If you are conflicted, take some extra time to think about it. You can't go wrong with taking a few extra days, weeks, months, even years. Hope this helped. Good Luck!

I pierced my toddlers at 2months after her first shots....I wanted to do it before she started getting motor skills and could grab them.
however she has lost several quite expensive pairs from just regular wearing just a thing to keep in mind

my sister in law let her daughter choose to have her ears pierced. i think my niece was really proud to be able to make that decision on her own. she is 4 years and asked without being prompted.

My personal preference is to wait until my daughter is old enough to choose to have her ears pierced. I have no issue helping her clean & take care of the piercings. My bias is probably due to my own experience - pleading my case to my parents at age 6 to have my ears pierced - they agreed & my dad took me & helped to care for them.

Its better to Pierce your daughters ears when she is older. reason for this is because her ears are so small an as she grows her ears will change in size an the hole will move. I know this because i worked a Claire's and we did a lot of ear piercing. an that's some of the information you are thought, also infants that are under the age of 3 months have to have there first shots before her ears can be pierced. ...hope this helped!

i got my daughters ear pierced at 4 month, i would have done it sooner but she was in the hospital for 6 weeks after birth.. but i would have done after her two month check up and she was up to date on her shots.. Just be a little picky on what kind of ear ring you pick.. Some times they will have problem with the different metals.. When I did Jaya's i went with surgical steal.. less chance she would have problems.. Hope this is helpful.. But remember you are her mom and only you know when you want to have them done.. You also know what is best for her..

I personally would wait until at least six months if not a year or two at the youngest. My boyfriend on the other hand is all about making your daughter wait until 13...and even then would be a fight. It's all, as far as I'm aware, a matter of preference.

We had my daughter's (her name is Sabrina too!) at 9 weeks old. The place we went to wanted her to have her first round of shots before doing them. There was a large debate awhile back on here about ear piercing in babies, so be prepared to maybe get some snippy comments from others about not piercing.

Hi Sabrina! We asked our doctor when would be a good time. She didn't think it was a big deal to wait as long as you take care of them and clean it twice a day. We ended up getting her ears pierced when our daughter was almost 6 months old, but we could have probably done it much earlier (more procrastination if anything on our part!).
