I had the implanon, my periods were awful when I was on it - really really heavy and lasted for weeks! It also increases the risk of PCSO (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) if it runs in your family - I was unaware of this when I had it put in, and then I was diagnosed with PCSO whilst the implant was in, I had it removed, went back on the pill and the cysts did disappear (the pill is good for getting rid of those!) Good Luck !!

I've had it in now for 6 months. No problems with it, and I have hardly had my period, which is a bonus. But I do know of a friend who had terrible mood swings and weight gain with it, so she had it taken out. Like anything I spose..suits some people and not others, so maybe just try it, and if it's not for you, it can be easily removed !!

I'm getting it done as soon as my cycle starts again. my doctor was great and said there is no harm in trying it. it's one of those things that if you are one of the unlucky few who it affects badly, they just take it out.

i had problems with implanon, it made me bled constantly and i turned into a sobbing evil mess. i had it in for 8 months before i made the doctor take it out. He wanted to put me on a pill to regulate my cycle which to me defeated the purpose of having the implant in the first place.

I have a friend who has the implant as well and she has had no problems with it.

So id give it a go and if it doesnt work just get the doctor to take it out again.
