I am breastfeeding and it's been two weeks since I had my baby, but my tummy still looks pregnant, how long does it take for it to go down? I am pretty anxious to get back into my regular clothes.

I hold onto my weight when I nurse for others nursing makes them skinnier than before they even got pregnant. You will find out how it affects you. Focus on being a mom and don't stress about the weight. It will come off. It is hard to be a new mom. Your body may never be the same. You have to love how you are today in order to be a good mom. I know it is hard. I have had 4 kids and have had to lose 30-40lbs after each one. I am currently pregnant again. Just remember to take time away from the baby to exercise. You will feel SO good about yourself. But wait until you are in a good sleeping routine with your baby. It is hard for a body to lose weight when you are sleep deprived. I have friends that try to lose their baby wieght right after and is it discouraging because they are sleep deprived. People eat more when they are sleep deprived because food can help to wake ypu up when you are tried. When a person gets 8 hours of sleep their body produces HGH (human Growth Hormone) Which actually helps you lose weight. Bottom line give your self a year. That is the norm. Go out and buy a couple of new outfits so you can feel good (if you have no clothes to wear) Hint:Pilates is great at getting your core back in shape!

I breastfeed for 6 months. I gained 40 lbs while pregnant. I lost 25, then had trouble with the last 15. Now that I've stopped breastfeeding I've gained 10 lbs back and look 6 months pregnant again with a bulging tummy. So frustrating. Hormones and metabolism are not normal. Breastfeeding burns up to 500 calories a day. I've started running again and gave up sweets. It's just going to take a lot longer this time (after my second child).

agreeing with all! if you didn't gain alot during pregnancy then its easier to lose if you do it right. eating right and breastfeeding helps and you could integrate the baby into some exercises like situps and doing push ups over the baby. its a great way to bond and get in shape. but 2 weeks is still a little early to worry about clothes fitting. congrats and enjoy all the wonder a baby brings to your life!

With my first child I was back in my clothes in ten days and I didn't breastfeed.  My second child is 11 months.  I fit in my clothes, but very snug!  For me it was different each time.

As others have said it 1. Depends on the person and 2. You can loose the wait pretty quickly, but the abs/strength of your body takes a while!

I had triplets 3 months ago- I am down to 5 punds below my pre-pregnancy weight because of breastfeeding AND I lost so much tone/muscle on bedrest.

Eventhough I am down to pre-pregnancy weight, I still don't feel like I am, because I am not as fit as I was. But, hey! That's what happens when you have little bundles of joy. And, you should just relax, especiially since you just had the baby!

Congrats!!

it''s more about toning, because your ribs and hips expand so much during pregnancy. it generally takes just as long to lose the weight as it did to gain it. you should not start exercising until 6 weeks after baby came. but don't rush it.  sit ups, crunches, yoga and pilates are really all you can do to tone your belly, but for now, just enjoy your new baby. be proud of your body and what it went through!

Two weeks is really not too long! It took me a month to stop looking pregnant and about 4 months to fit into some of my pre pregnancy clothes, but I havent gone back to the gym yet so if you can, that will probably speed things up (always ask your doctor if it is alright!). I am still breastfeeding but I am not sure that was what helped lose the weight, I think it was mostly due to my petite frame.
Good luck!

it depends on the person and how they deal with the problem, for some they lose it quickly, for others it takes a while, and for most, they never do. you could try doing some sit-ups, but i recommend that you let your body heal naturally. after all, it has only been 2 weeks. try getting into a workout routine in a couple months. that should do the trick. good luck
