How much should my 5 month old eat?

my 5 month old son will only eat cereal in the morning. I've tried to feed him in the afternoon and in the evening. The only thing he wants is his bottle. I have tried green beans and sweet potatoes which he likes. but only for breakfast. He gains weight like he should. but I hear other babys his age eat 3 times a day. Is this OK for him to just eat in the A.M. and bottles the rest of the day?

My son eats about six 5-6 oz bottles of EBM or formula a day and a jar of food in the evening. My pediatrician only recommended feeding him anything other than breastmilk or formula only once a day until 6 months of age. At that point you can add one to two additional meals a day, but breastmilk or formula will remain the main food until a year old. I believe a child should be drinking at least 20 oz of breastmilk or formula at 1 years old so they should have more than that before then.

most doctors suggest holding off on solid foods until 6 months, so it's perfectly fine for him to have bottles the rest of the day. i have 6mo old twins and they just started cereal this week. they only have it for their mid meals. their first and last bottles are always formula.
