hungry baby?

my little boy is 9 1/2 months and he's been on solids since just after 5 months.
He has 3 meals a day, with some snacks in between too, carrot sricks biscuits etc.
He still has about 2/3 bottles of formula during the day and a big 9 oz bottle before bed. But he still wakes up in the night at least once (sometimes up to 3 times) to be fed, he got through 9oz last night.
I have tried increasing the amount of solid food i give him at meal times but normally he wont eat a lot more of it. He's not a huge baby, about 23lb and 31 inches long.
I'm wondering if i'm doing something wrong? he always seems to be hungry and the night time feeds are starting to exhaust me now i'm back at work full time.
any advice?

thanks Stacey xxxx

A couple things come to mind. First, that it's totally possible your baby is hungry. Or just needs some cuddles/comfort in the middle of the night. It's not that unusual for a 9-month-old to still be waking a couple of times.

Also, you might try giving more milk during the day, rather than more solids. The reason is formula has more calories per ounce than most solid foods. And formula/breastmilk should still be the majority of the nutrition until age 1 anyway, so maybe your baby just needs more milk during the day rather than at night.

how long before his bedtime do you feed him? try feeding him about an hour before bedtime and see if that helps any??
