Ideas Please?

I have a 5 month old boy and he barely eats anything. I've tried him on yoghurt, fruit, veggies, rice cereal and he doesnt really eat anything? And if he does eat its only usually a couple of spoons and then starts spitting it out or closes his mouth so i cant put anything in there. I am all out of ideas. I give him teethings rusks (cheesy mite sticks) and he prefers them over food.

Don't worry at 5 months old i had the same problem with my little man i took him to see his dr and the dr's responce was to give him time and that he wasnt ready for any solids yet but to continue to introduce them to him every now and again to get him use to them if he hasnt started to eat properly but 8 months i would check it out with your local gp'
My little mans dr said the main food he needed at that age was formula or breastmilk if your feeding him :)

It sounds like he's not ready for food if he won't eat it. At 5 months milk is enough for him whether its breast milk or formula. When he gets to 6 months try him on food again...I would just start with baby rice just a few spoonfuls until he gets used to it and then gradually give him abit more until he enjoys eating it. I would reccomend sticking to one food so he gets used to it before trying other foods.

Might it just be too early for him to eat solids? No sense trying to force feed him food... if he is doing ok on breastmilk for formula (gaining weight/sleeping ok) then I would leave him be for a few more weeks and try again after a little while. My baby girl is 5 and a half months and still not ready for solids. I am trying to follow her cues instead of worrying about what I should or ought to be doing. All babies develop differently, so I am not going to stress out about trying to force solids on her.
