hiya, my little girl had this when she was a couple weeks old. i was given an ointment for it - antibiotics, it was a cream at 1st because she was so new, but then into eye drops the next times. cleared up straight away, she has had it 4times in 6months.. the doctor said younger babies that get this sticky eye tend to get it quite often in their first 6months. Also cleaning with sterilised water with a cotton bud.

I had exactly the same thing happen with my baby girl, the doctor said it was a blocked tear duct and that I should clean it at every feed with sterilised water and a cotton bud. It cleared up after a week. Hope this helps and good luck x

Not sure about breast milk, but my daughters eye has been doing something similiar to that since birth and I was told by her Pediatrician that her tear duct is clogged. Try wiping it off regularly with a warm damp rag and messaging in circle motions b/t nose and tear duct...this may help. My daughter just turned 9 months yesterday and so now at her 9 month check up next friday her pedi will evaluate if her eye is doing better or if she has to be referred to an pedi eye specialist for a shunt to help it drain. Good Luck!!

breastmilk helps my baby. It can also be a clogged tear duct. In which case all you do is gently massage the side of his nose down in order to get it flowing correctly. SOme babies I guess just have narrow ducts that open out good until they get older and their eyes open up good. But always good to make sure first that its not an infection of some sort. I do a combo of both for my baby.

Well, it might help, though I would be concerned it is conjunctivitus and in that case he is going to need antibiotics. I know my lil' guy got it when he was about 2 months old.
