My 9 month old has a rediculous temper, help?

I am a single mom and he hasn't seen his Dad in 3 months. He throws fits for normal things like taking toys away and such, however its his fits that bother me. He is already hitting at whatever is around him, he will tense up and kind of shake, and SCREAMS. His half brother acts like this but he also hasn't seen him in 3 months so I can imagine at 5 or 6 months he picked that up and has remembered it. I put him in his crib when he throws fits like that. Im lost. How do I get this under control at such a young age.

Thank you all. I have been doing the "time out crib" thing and when hes quiet going to get him and I tell him Mommy doesnt appreciate that behavior so I will just keep it up. Glad to know Im on the right track. :-)

i have 2 girls a 7 year old step son and another boy on the way and with all the kids who seemed to like to throw fits, as hard as it may be staying calm is always the best if he is throwing a fit just tell him calmly that it is not ok and put him in his crib for just a few minutes to let him have some quiet time to calm down and dont give in to his yelling even if you feel bad. once a child realizes that his fits are not frustrating you and you are not getting mad they tend to start to calm down even though it may take some time.

my son does the same thing and is the same age. i put him in his crib and ignore him and that helps some. my son is also very very rough so i am kinda in the same boat you are.

My son is 10 months and also used to do this but his dad is still here i think he might just be fustrated an not knowing how to express him self and he has to learn somehow, i just ignored him when he done this, once he learnt he wouldnt get my attention for it he stopped. hope this helps.
