Her poop for the past few days has been explosive green and runny. She has no other symptoms besides gas but seems to be ok.I dont know if this is considered diarreha or if its normal? Has this happened to anyone else?

It is normal for newborn poo to be orange, green or brown or any shade in between! Runny is normal but watery can be an indication of a problem.

The way to tell if it is diahorrea or if there might be a problem if it there is a sudden change in colour or consistency. So if the poo used to be brown thick paste and now it is green and very runny, then you need to speak to your doctor. But if that were my baby, whose poo is always very running and green or orange, then it would not be a concern. Make sense?

My son did that too. If it is happening every time she eats, that isn't normal. They had to switch my son to soy formula because he was lactose intolerant. I'd talk to her pediatrition and see what he/she says.

A friend of mine gave me a book called "What to Expect in the 1st Year" and I LIVED by that book. It's the same author as What to Expect When You're Expecting. I went month to month and that book helped so much. It has a little poop color guide in there also :-) I would suggest getting it if you haven't already :-)

Hope this helped some :-)

My son's was yellow-green and runny for a couple weeks while his body adjusted to the formula. If she's three weeks old that means you have an appt next week or so for her one mo. check-up right...if it continues I would make a point to check with the dr then.. If she doesn't have one, feel free to call the dr. Good luck!

if its geen and "seedy" it is probably alright. Ask your pediatritian the next time you go. Newborns often have green, "seedy", somewhat loose BMs. WATERY is not good! But runny is to be expected to some degree...again make sure you mention it to your doctor at the next visit if you are still concerned.
