My Daughter Used To Hate Tummy Time, Now She Just Falls Alseep... How Can I Get Her To Try Again?

Kayla Alice - posted on 08/18/2009 ( 4 moms have responded )

She used to do the typical fuss and whine routine and struggle to lift her head, recently she's just been falling asleep and not even trying, I'm worried that she'll get in her own way developmentally, what can I do to encourage her to try?

I say that You could try having her tummy time by lying on your back with her on your chest. It's what my dr. Suggested. I'd been doing it that way anyways because he was more interested in trying to look at my face that was and less interested in sleeping. It has got him holding his head up for longer and longer periods at a time now.

you can lay in a reclined position and put her tummy side down on our chest... that counts as tummy time. My daughter is almost 2 months and loves it. She lifts herself up and tries to look around. Another thing you could do is hold your daugher over your shoulder.

Tummy time is SUPER important! Try putting her on a black and white or brightly coloured(Depending on her age) quilt on the floor, and put down lots of toys. Lay on the floor with her and sing, make funny noises and faces. Keep her really stimulated. try it right after a nap so you know she is totally awake

i wouldn't worry about tummy time that much. my daughter hated it so i avoided it most of the time...and she's fine. babies learn to hold up their heads in other positions too (they pull their heads away from you when you hold them upright, etc). don't worry. she'll move on to the next stage before you know it.
