New sleeping issue with my 5 month old

I have a 5 month old son that has been sleeping through the night since he was 8 weeks old. We would lay him down at nap or night time and he would be asleep with in a few minutes and we wouldn't hear another peep from him. The past week he has been fighting sleep like crazy! He screams when we lay him down and when he does finally fall asleep he'll wake up screaming after a few minutes. My husband and i have tired everything...any suggestions?

i would add some rice cereal to his diet and that will prolly help somewhat. my son did this at 6 months, he got an ear infection and once it was gone wouldn't sleep he kept waking up all night fighting naps. it was really hard but he will get through it my son is almost a year and been sleeping good off and on since then. he keeps waking up in the middle of the night thinking he needs a bottle which he doesn't. keep your head up he will sleep through the night again i promise

Is it just this week it has been happening? does he seem healthy otherwise? (no fever?) My sis-in-law's kids had a lot of ear infections and she found she could tell when one was starting because they would scream when laid flat down, and also would wake up screaming very suddenly.. she mentioned this happened to a lesser degree with teething pain as well. he could be fine, but maybe check his temp. to be sure...

i wish i could say something to help but we are in the same boat with our ten month old. he has been staying up till six am and then trying to sleep all day. my husband works two jobs so i end up having to stay up all night with him. we have tried putting him in his crib and letting him cry it out, we have tried cereal, which is something you might try. cereal is one of the best things to fill up their tummies and make them sleepy.
