No longer sleeping through the night

Help! For the past month, my 10.5-month-old son had been sleeping through the night (finally!). All that changed this week though. He is waking up several times a night hysterical. I picked him up because he was so frantic and he stopped right away. The first night I cuddled him until he fell back asleep and put him in his crib. The next night, he woke up twice as often and last night, he was up five times between 2-6 a.m. I let him CIO a bit last night and he was tearing at his clothes and jerking about in his crib he was so upset. I've never seen him like this. It seems all he wants is me. I brought him into our bed and he was fine. Why is he all of a sudden so clingy? I stopped BF a month ago but that shouldn't have anything to do with it as that's when he started sleeping really well. Is this separation anxiety? What do I do to fix it? I am going back to work soon so understandably I would love it if he back to sleeping like a little angel. Thanks in advance for any help.

my son gets like that everytime he starts getting a new tooth... when he is teething at night we make sure we give him some baby ibuprofen before bed and he sleeps for at least 6 or 7 hours (when the medicine wears off) after that i will cuddle him back to sleep or give him a dose of tylenol so he can be rested..
