So I've now had this period back for about a week and a half and it is not fun!!!

my baby was born nearly 8 weeks ago and for not having a eriod for over nine months this is really weird for me!!!!

but how long does it usually last???

my periods normally dont go much over 3 days and i gather that because this is the first for over nine months so it is going to be a heavier long one but how long does it last?

how long has other peoples last??

Well as you know this type of period is not a normal one since you are shedding all the linning that you have been pregnant with for nine months. I think it should go for a week to ten days. During that time the bleeding will get lighter. Take lots of iron so you dont get weak.l

I'd like to know the answer to that too. 3 days after I got on birth control I started my period... and it hasn't stopped. That was like 2 weeks ago. =[

mine lasted for about 2 weeks i think, and sence then mine have gone ven more funny then what they were before bubs. the pain of them are just as bad the only good thing is that the pill is keeping them regular which is great for me because they were never regular cause my first period after the pregnacy was the first one in 12 months. good luck they do get better once the hormons go back to normal.

With my kids, my period came about 10 weeks after they were born and lasted about 2 weeks for me.. I didn't breastfeed either.but everyone is different too.. so not to worry. and also I agree with lynlee that if you are having blood clots that are big. you should seek help..

Yes my first period after giving birth was longer and heavier than normal but I can't recall how long - maybe 8 days or something. If it is still really heavy and you are passing really big clots then it could be a good idea to contact your health professional, given that it's not long since you've given birth.
