I'm only 4 weeks pp. Stopped bleeding for about a week then started back again with the old brownish period stuff... It's been going for 4 days; started out light and then has gotten a little heavier... Anyone else have this happen?

the same thing happened to me and i thought it was a period also. until i actually got a period the next month! it was extremely heavy for like 6 days and i was crampy the whole time.. so im assuming the first wasnt a period at all.

I had a natural birth and have exclusively breastfed since. I stopped bleeding at 3-4 weeks post partum, then a week later had light bleeding like a period for about 5days. At my 6 week check-up, I told my doctor and she said it could still be lochia, however as my placenta had been delivered intact it was also possible that it was my menstrual cycle that had recommenced and that I was therefor fertile again already. Sure enough, 28 days later my period started again and I have been regular ever since (now 5 months pp). I was a bit disappointed (as was my partner!) as I hoped with exclusive bf'ing that I would have a bit more of a break and not have to worry about conceiving again so soon. But, the body does what it does...

I bled for about 5 weeks after I had my son, but by the 5th week i was barely even bleeding. I went to my 6 week check up and got some birth control, and ive been bleeding like a normal period for almost 3 weeks now :( its getting pretty annoying, especially since im almost to the end of my pack and thats when the "real period" is suppose to start lol

Quoting Kayliecia:

It sounds like ur period..i had a period at 4 weeks pp too, but recently got my tubes tied so i dont have a period anymore.

If the only thing you had done was your tubes tied and your period stopped you need to see a doctor.  Getting your tubes tied doesn't pervent ovulation.  It just prevents the egg from entering the tubes and uterus.  And its ovulation that causes your lining to build in your uterus and then end up with you're period.   So unless you have your uterus removed or your ovaries; its important you get into your doctor to make sure you aren't pregnant or something else isn't wrong.

Natural birth here, and also exclusively breasfeeding, so this really makes me sad... I was hoping to be preiod free for a few more months :(

Sort of.....I was bleeding for over a month off and on.....then 3 months later got a period. I think a lot of it has to do with having a natural birth vs a c-section......

All sorts of crazy things happen after having a baby! There is no such thing as normal! When mine started back "properly" after this baby, when she was nearly one, I had 10 days on followed by 3 off, then back on for 5 days, the 3 weeks off then on for 2 days... it was a right mess!

hi there i have 3 children my fisrt 2 were born natural and i had bleeding on and off for nearly 6 weeks and then when i stopped breastfeeding i got really bad bleeding for over a week but the doctor said it was normal. With my 3 third baby he was em c sec and i was bleeding and it stopped about 4 weeks and then 4 days later i started bleeding again and that went on for another 2 weeks i went to the doctro and said it can be normal but because i had c sec i had to go for a scan to make sure they hadnt left anything behind and it was all clear
