My little girl is 6 and a hlaf months old, and has just had her latest immunisations. She was a fully breastfed baby up until recently, that we started trying her on some baby foods (and am breastfeeding to top her up). she loves them , but tonight i have noticed she has a very phlegmmy sounding cough, and a snotty nose alot. im guessing its something she may have caugght when we went out, and am doing everything to try to help her to get better.

We bathe her everyday, wash her face after meals, i have eaten heavily garlic flavoured meals (to get the garlic in the milk, as a herbal remedy) and baby panadol every few hours. Im hoping this will work, (as she has only been sick for about 12 hours) but does anyone know if there are there any more things i can try?

i used to hang out in the bathroom with my daughter while i ran a hot shower and steamed up the room for about 15 minutes (or until you just can't stand to be there anymore). Try it a couple times a day, especially before bed. it really helped (then after suck her nose out with a nasal bulb too).

Use saline spray and irrigate her nose. I didn't see how this could possibly work, but I recently got a cold and didn't want to take anything so I didn't hurt my little girl, so I tried just the nasal spray since I know how to blow my nose. Amazingly, it works amazingly! I use the Simply Saline for my daughter. I know there is an infant formula, but I can't find it in the stores out here. Also, try a cool mist humidifier to help with the congestion. That's what my docs have told me to do and my daughter is so much better now! Good luck!
