Raging Hormones and weaning breastfed baby

I recently stopped breastfeeding my 8 month old baby due to short supply and exhaustion from being tied to my pump 24/7. It has been 5 days since my last pump and I guess it's from the hormones changing to stop producing mild, but I have wanted to cry non-stop for the past several days. I am SO emotional like I was just after having her in October. Has this happened to anyone else when they stopped breastfeeding and how long will it take to go away. I'm a mess.

oh, take heart. you are completely normal for expereincing these emotions. Your hormones for milk production haven't settled down yet. it will take time. Just like anything..get outside, be active and give yourself and emotional pat on the back for giving your baby 8 months of your wonderful milk. Everyone's body is diferent in the rate that your hormones will even themselves out. eat well, sleep well, but most of all tlak to other women, I love my partner but he just doesn't get it. If you have a La Leche League or other breastfeeding support group near you go or simply call to talk to one of their leaders! They can be very supportive and that is what you need more than anythig to talk and be heard. I wish you all the best. take care.

I have heard of this though didn't experience it myself. A friend weaned her son at about 17 months old and she said she cried all the time for weeks after. It is something to do with the hormones you create when you breastfeed.
