I have a baby girl who is almost 9 months I don't really give her anything to drink and she doesn't seem to need it, I read that babies under 12 months don't need anything extra

I give my 9 month old boy boiled water in his sippy cup. He doesn't drink too much of it, this way he just gets use to the cup. he is breastfed, so its something new to him getting liquids from something other than mommy,. lol. He has tried diluted juice, but now on a regular basis. I think as long as it doesnt interfere with their milk, it's not a big deal.

Yes. I Would Give Her Some Apple Juice. If Your Afraid Of Sugar Intake, You Can Buy Apple Juice With Sugar, That's What I Do With My Six Month Old Son. Also Make Sure Formula Or Whole Milk, Which Ever You Give Her, Come First.

after 6 months you can give water, I give my son water after every meal and now with the heat a little more, he will be 1 in two weeks.

What I meant by "suspect" is water that has ground contaminants in it. I've had great well water and city water. But, both can get messed up badly if there is damage to the water mains (earthquakes, flooding, spills, tornados, etc.) or flooding (especially with well water).

There are pretty reasonably priced kits you can use to check for levels of all kinds of things.

So, didn't want to freak anybody out about there water as it is vital to us all. Just wanted to say that if you are concerned take some precautions until you've looked into and addressed possible problems.

i have a ten month old baby boy and he started having solids from the age of six months, and as well as milk formula, and in between that i give him some water with only two packets of solids and four of the formula that is wat the health nurse said 2 me.

I started giving my daughter water in a sippy cup...she loved being a "big" girl! Whole milk should not be introduced any earlier than 12 months...can wreak havoc with their tummies and I don't do juice...there is no real value in it. Graycin is 13 months old and is doing great with milk and water...my pediatrician is very pleased!

i'm sorry but i have to ask: what do you mean by "if your water is suspect"? i've never heard that term used so i'm just curious that's all!

i wont give my son city water or distilled/bottled water...we're so used to well water that if we have anything other we get sick.

She doesn't NEED anything else. But, to help her learn to use a cup (sippy or regular) water (tap should be okay, boiled if your water is suspect) or very dilute juices (no more than 4 to 6 ounces), are okay.

at nine months the baby can start drinking juices but I would say water is better! don't get the baby too hooked on juices; too much sugar!!!!

my son was 6mos when i started him on whole milk. as he got bigger i let him have juices but i'd recommend not giving her more juice than milk as recently i have met a 1yr old who is only around 15lbs (he's only 1mo younger than my son who is 28lbs). his parents only give him juice & don't allow him much exercise. best descision would be to ask your childs doctor. all dr's have different opinions & all children are different.

My son is just 6months, we let him try some of the Gerber juices. He isn't really into it, but it is good to make sure they will take plenty of fluids if they get sick.

It depends if she is breast fed or bottle fed, if she is breast fed then you don't need anything else, formula fed then start introducing cooled boiled water.
