My 3 wk old has been on similac. I just got 15 cans of emfamil...will switching her mess up her tummy?

She will be fine, Most hospitals give the baby similac to start off with, then wic usually give you enfamil. You will probably notice her poop wont be as runny and be more formed drinking Enfamil. but she will be fine.

i think it depends on your baby. my son will only take similac. we have tried switching formulas and he just gets sick.

As long as it is the similar type like milk based with iron there is no harm in changing from one to the next even in the next bottle...... the only thing is flavor may be slightly different so it may take her a little to adjust to the new taste but the change is fine as long as you are not changing constantly

Yes!!! I only know this because when my daughter was born till about 2 months we had difficulty finding the right formula for her. I went home with similac from the hospital and she seemed to have digestive problems so we switched her to another one of similac but for sensitive. We probably went through about 4 (same brand though) and it made her worse. My pedatrician told me that even the same brand will cause more problems than she was having on the original! So hard lessoned learned don't switch unless you stay with enfamil.

I agree with some of the other posts. It really depends on the baby. With our first, she bounced back and forth from Similac to Enfamil, depending what was on sale and what we had coupons for. Our Dr said both were good, and she took either well with no problems.

my Twin boys were on similac in the hospital but it was to hard on there little tummies. the day after they got home we got them on enfamil. But here in texas WIC made me use similac until the doc a doc filled out a paper saying they had to be on enfamil gentlease fussines and gas. FYI you NOT mix the formula together. it to diiferent forms mixing to together. Just stick with one and keep your baby on it!! good luck

I had my son on enfamil to start out with and his tummy was always upset and he was constantly spitting up and he was constapated, when i switched him to similac i had to use similac sensitive R.S and he's doing so well, barely ever spits up now and is regular in the diapers. what also helps with spit ups and tummy pains, is i found if you blend or whisk the formula together instead of shaking it. it causes less gas. i hope this helped.

I love emfamil and in fact my son had the worst tummy aches from similac. No, jsut don't keep switching or at least this is what my doc told me. :)

probably but you never know. my son was on enfamil and even switching from powder to ready cans made his stomach upset

it messed my son up. mainly because he turned out to be allergic to enfamil. i'd mix a little enfamil with similac, and day by day use more and more enfamil. until the whole bottle becomes enfamil.

we stayed with similac advance because aside from the allergy (to something) with enfamil, it was too hard on his belly, even the gentlease was too hard. all he did was puke and scream. and WIC all they gave was enfamil, and tried to force me to use enfamil, even tho my son couldnt handle it. but he was on similac advance since he was 2 days old (i couldnt breast feed anything but colstum), til he was around 9 months when he refused all formula and switched to milk

if it messes up her belly, i'd stick with the similac. but yah, just introduce it gradually.

all depends on the baby, enfamil made my daughter sick we ended up using similac sensitive till she was 6 months

It will for some time. Once the stomach gets use to the new formula, then he should be ok. It is normal.

Also, my son started on Good Start (from the hospital) because I was supplementing my breast milk. After that can was gone, I had a can of Similac Advanced that I had gotten from signing up their website, he did fine w/the switch. I think it depends on the baby and how each individual tummy handles it. Also, my son is not strictly formula, just when I run an errand and I have not pumped. I'm glad my other posted help you as well. You can always try the switch and if you notice any drastic changes then switch him back. Doesn't hurt to try right?!

it will for a short time. we used simlilac for a few days and he did horrible on it. simlilac is too hard on newborns and babies. we have been on enfamil gentlease since then hes almost 6 months. he does so much better.
