Sleep problem with my four month old

Noah refuses to get on a sleep schedule, his only schedule being that when he goes to sleep for the night he sleeps for 8 hours, but after that he takes close to 2 hours to be coaxed back to sleep, if he does at all. Usually he gets his bath at 7:00, then some cereal and a book and is in bed by 8 at the latest. This means hes usually up and ready to go at 4 am, any ideas?

I have no idea... does he nap well during the day? Sometimes I think they just take a little while to get into a good rhythm. Maybe he will start sleeping later on his own after a while. Don't worry, mine is 6 months old and I would be thrilled if he slept anywhere close to 8 hours at night ;)

I am more of a night person, so for me I was always willing to stay up a bit later if that meant that I could sleep a little more in the morning. So my suggestion would be try to make bedtime later. If he gets cranky I would see if you could get him to do a short nap in the evening so he does not get overly tired. Then in a few months see if you can gradually take out that evening nap and lengthen the night time sleeping, laying him down 10 or 15 mins earlier. If that works then keep weening out the nap and lengthening the bedtime.
