Ok - so our little guy is 2 weeks old. I thought we were on our way to a decent schedule...however - the past couple of nights we seem to be moving further away from that schedule. Especially last night. He just wouldn't relax and sleep...very fussy. We think its because he's got a mild case of diaper rash so hopefully we can get that taken care of.

How old were your babies before they started to really get on a decent schedule at night? Now that he was up more than usual last night, he's of course more tired today and is sleeping now instead of being awake like he usually is. How did everybody get their babies on a schedule? Or is it just pretty much up them??

I really am looking forward to the 4 - 5 consecutive hours of sleep! And I know my husband is more than ready to get more than 2 or 3 hours at a time :) Its nice to know there is a light at the end of the tunnel...just not knowing WHEN is the tough part!

My baby is 2 1/2 months old and was just starting to fall into a semi-schedule around 5 weeks. He would go to sleep around 2 am and stay asleep until 6 or 7 in the morning. I was so excited about this!! That 4-5 hours of sleep!! After he woke he would eat and stay asleep until around 9 or 10. He would eat again and then be up for about an hour and then take a 2 hour nap. This would go on throughout the day and night. It was so nice when he started doing this, unfortunately he has now become very colicky and from the hours of 5pm and midnight or longer, he is up crying. It's really hard. I would say he has kept his 2am bedtime and still stays in bed until around 10 am. Hang in there it won’t last forever and every baby is different. I would not try and impose a schedule on him just yet. It will be more frustrating for you and baby. Just remember to sleep when he sleeps.

Hope this helped

Our little guy took 3 months to have a good sleeping schedule at night and just as he settled in he had surgery and we had to start all over again. I think it takes some time and each baby is different. My oldest slept all night at one month old however the next one in line didn't until she was about 15 months and this one was 6 months before it was all night. Best of luck and stick to the routine he will get it.

For my son it was pretty much up to him, but he made it to be every 2-3 hours through the night for the first 3 months. Then he only woke up two or three times until he was 4 months old. After that it was 1-2 times a night until he was almost 6 months old then he started sleeping through the night.
