My soon-to-be 4month old still is not sleeping all night. Now he hardly ever sleeps during the day either. Im concerned that he is not getting the proper rest so he can grow. His weight and all is fine and he doesn't have colic. He gets cranky towards the end of the evening going into bedtime, but he fights sleep. Anybody have any suggestions??

My daughter didn't sleep through the night until 8 months old, my friends son is 19 months and still wakes up once a night sometimes and my neice is 14 months and still has 2 to 3 bottles in the night. There isn't really a set age where they start to sleep through the night. He is probably just going through a phase and when he needs to sleep more, he will.

All babies require different amounts of sleep as far as napping during the day goes. So as long as he is not miserable during the day, what he does get should be fine. When it comes to nighttime, most babies don't generally sleep through the night until 6 months old. I know some that have done it at a few weeks and others that were a year old and still not sleeping through. Try changing his nightly wake-up routine. I usually let my little guy cry for a few minutes to see if he goes back to sleep on his own. If not, I go in and try not to look him in the eyes or talk to him, pick him up and bounce him a little. Most of the time he will settle down enough for me to lay him back down and he falls right back to sleep. Those night are few and far between now. Good Luck in whatever you choose to do!
