I really need to know how to introduce food other than formula to my 4 month old. I have been putting cereal in her bottle ( 1 tbsp in a 4 ounce bottle) the last month cause she just was not getting full on formula alone, and just started her on baby food ( vegetables 1 tbsp) 3 or 4 days ago. She drinks between 4-5 ounces every 4 hours and i put cereal in her bottle for about 3 feedings a day. I guess what i am asking is if what i am doing is ok?

At 4 months old really all baby should be getting is formula or breastmilk. That is where all their nutrients come from for what they need for proper growth and brain development. Baby food is just to learn how to eat by spoon and to learn different textures. Until baby is 12 months old formula should be the main source of food. At 4 months babies can start with about 1 table spoon of cereal feed only by spoon. No cereal or baby food should be put into a bottle for feeding. If baby can't eat by spoon then they are not developmentally ready for cereal. Baby food should not be started until 6 months old. Babies will go through growth spurts and will need more formula from time to time. It is important to add in more formula and not baby food as the nutrients from formula is what their body needs. Each baby is going to be different in the amount of formula they drink at a sitting. Some will only go up to 3 to 4 ounces at a time where others will drink 6 to 8 ounces at a time. They will drink what their body needs. Your doctor can also be a good person to guide you as to what and how much to feed when. You also have to watch out for allergies and knowing how to feed to make sure there are no food allergies.
