I completely understand, and I blame society for putting such an emphasis on being your pre-pregnancy weight the minute you give birth! Unfortunately I bought into the hype, and was determined to slim down immediately =(

I had a c-section in April, and the day after began wearing a tummy compression garment to shrink my belly. When I was released 3 days later you could barely tell that I had delivered! After coming home I went vegetarian for a month and lost 32 of the 42 pounds I gained. 4 weeks post-partum I went to a Nutritionist and got a prescription for Phentermine because with Baby feeding every 2 hours it was hard to muster up the energy to exercise- as well as find time to cook a healthy meal. I only took it for 4 weeks, and 12 weeks post-partum I'm back to my pre pregnancy weight. I don't think it's necessarily the healthiest way, but it worked for me. Going forward I'm going to use the old diet and exercise trick to maintain. Don't give up! You can do it! We all struggle, Mama-- You're not alone =)

I just recently started working with a personal trainer. It's only been a week and I've lost 6-7 lbs. It takes a big commitment but if you are determined you can do it. She has me eating healthy and doing cardio/strength training 5-6 days a week for an hour. For the eating part, I eat breakfast then a couple hours after have a small snack. Lunch is a couple hours later and another snack 2-3 hours after that. Dinner a couple hours later and a snack around 8-9pm. After that the kitchen is closed except to get water until 5am. Each meal should combine a protein (lean meats, chicken, turkey, eggs, etc.) with a complex carbohydrate (fruits & veggies, whole grain breads). You want to have enough fiber to keep you full and the rest to keep you energized. The snacks are necessary to keep your metabolism going all the time. The workout she started me on is fairly simple. I do 15 minutes on the treadmill (3 min brisk walk, then alternative 1 min jog and 1 min walk which makes your body work harder and get stronger). Following that I do another 15 minutes of cardio on the bike or elliptical. For strength training you can do resistance band workouts which you can find at Walmart or Target or any store like that. An hour seems like a long time but you have to remember that you are doing it for your health (and sanity in many cases!) and that our kids will grow up seeing that it is important to eat healthy and stay active. Good luck and just keep trying!

I had the same problem even after a year at the gym I'd only lost 5kgs. I went back to the gym after having our third, only lost 5kgs again... I finally found Cohens when our third was 8.5mths old, I lost the weight in 9wks (almost 20kgs), kept it off for 8 mths, until our forth (unplanned) blessing came along... now I'm trying it again, I've lost a couple of kilos already since Sunday.... if you're in Australia, if not you can always find the American site, it costs a bit, but not as much as having to be on the shakes and stuff with other programs if you have a bit to lose. HTH.
