Water not until after 6 months and then it is not much (4 ounces or less as they are getting water in the milk they drink and the milk is what is giving them their nutrients). Newborns generally have loose stools. To help with diaper rash there are many diaper rash creams you can use. There are also some over the counter ones that your can get if needed. I have good luck with Destine max. strength. Also what you can do while you are trying to get ride of the diaper rash is to not use wipes instead use a warm wet paper towel. The wipes have alcohol in them which can irritate the rash more. When you can inbetween diaper changes try to leave the diaper off for a bit (I know this can be tricky as it is not long before they pee :) ) The air helps to heal the rash. So when you can even if it is just 5 mins or even less try to leave the diaper off.

You should not start giving water till at least 6 months old. Formula or breastmilk have all the water your baby needs right now. Water can be deadly for babies, google water intoxication in babies.

Do you breastfeed or formula feed?

Your baby does not need any water on the side. The formula or breastmilk has plenty of water in it. You can make your baby really sick from giving it too much water. Now once your baby is a toddler and weened off the formula or breast then you can give them water.

I do both since she never really latched on so i pump n give her formula. Also what should i do about her having the runs n having a diaper rash? I feel bad when i have to wipe her n she screams n i wipe her as soft as i can. I dnt know how to make the runs go away so the rash can heal.
