Why does my 4 1/2 month old fight his bottles?

My 4 1/2 month old screams when i try to give him his bottle, will take his solids fine. It will take abot 5-10mins of screaming before he finally gives up and starts drinking, even then, i'm lucky if he drinks 120mls. I know its not wind, and i have even tried feeding him in different positions or even in his bouncer, but nothing works. It has been going on for over a month. It's like he fears the bottle.. Andy ideas why?

One thing I worked out is when my 6 mo old's teeth are bothering her (she's still all gums), she doesn't liket to suck on her bottle. She eats well all the time but the teet hurts her sensative gums. She prefers to chew it. I know she still needs the formula so on the days she doesn't want it, I wait til I've rocked her to sleep at nap times and stick it in her mouth. She drinks it just fine then and has a nap. She never drinks more than 120 ml and usually has some left but as long as she has most of it, I'm happy. We also have started experimenting with a sippy cup she can hold with water in it just for hydration and practive holding but I don't rely on this to fill her up at all. I also still do the sleepy feed most nights so she gets the proper amount of formula and food. Hope this is helpful.

I breastfed him for the first 3 weeks and bottlefed, he was fine up until a month ago. He is on cereal for breakfast, fruit for lunch and vegies for dinner, he started on solids early(1st on cereal) as reccomended because he wasnt satisfied on just bottle. I have tried different temps on the bottle, but prefers it warmed. I took him to the doctor and they couldnt find a reason for it, and said it would probably just pass. I have even held him out longer for a feed so he is starving or not giving him solids and the more he is hungry the worse he is. I just dont understand why he was fine a month ago, and then it changed.

He is still putting on weight well, bout 200grams a week.

When i try and give him water, he fights it as soon as i put the teat in his mouth, but then when he realises it is water, he will drink it.

Have you changed his formula?? Have you always bottle fed him ?

He may not like his formula....Is it room temperature or do you warm it up ?

I had a similar problem when I started to ween my daughter from breast milk to formula.

Sorry for all the questions.....but there could be a few reasons.....

wow i dunno. never heard this before. have you talked to your doctor about it? as long as he is taking solids he should be fine.. maybe try mixing his formula with rice cereal an feeding it to him that way he gets all tha nutrients he needs. my guess is babys dont gotta have bottles as long as their gettin all tha nutrients they need. right?

what solids are you feeding him, my doc says they start to prefer the food so they stop drinking their bottle which is really bad because the milk is what they need to stay healthy
