What tips would you give a mom who wants to write a book?

Enjoy the process-- such a cliche but it is true. Writing is writing. Books are business. Both can be fun and fulfilling, but you really have to know why you're doing one or the other, or both.

How do you balance writing and motherhood?

Motherhood is impossible to balance with anything. It's always there. Writing is time consuming, whether or not you have children. It's like anything else, if you value it you figure out how to carve out the time. For me, letting go of perfectionism helps, because it allows me to scribble down very rough thoughts in small pockets of time.

Where do you find writing inspiration?

I write about very mundane things, so my inspiration is all around me every day. If something moves me, especially if I find myself relating the story to others or talking through it to myself, that's my cue to write it down.
