What Inspired Me to Start Blogging

I started Confessions of a Pagan Soccer Mom on May 8, 2008, around the time that I "came out" in my community as a Pagan. After hiding my religious choices for years, for fear of possible discrimination and persecution, I was ready stop hiding who and what I really was. I started the blog to share my story and to show the world that there are those out there just living life and raising a beautiful family — and just happen to be Pagan as well. For the most part, it's been a pretty easy road, both in my community and online. There have, of course, been the occasional bumps in the road as well.

How Faith Inspires How I Raise My Children

My faith is one of acceptance, tolerance. One that sees the God and Goddesses influence in every animal, every plant, every person. I've raised my kids to accept people for who they are, to try to show kindness to those that they meet, and to be nature's conservators, in honor of deity. I've also, sadly, had to raise them to be aware that there are those out there who would wish them harm based solely on our religious choices. I've taken that knowledge and made it into a lesson about standing up for others who have or are being bullied. I'm proud to say that my kids, while certainly not perfect, are becoming people who can stand up for themselves and for others, and who extend courtesy and kindness to all they meet.
