What's your favorite vegan or vegetarian friendly product?

That's as difficult as determining my favorite song or meal. The answer is very dependent on my current mood. Our family favorites include, Gardein, Tofurky, Field Roast, The Vegg, Daiya, Earth Balance and we would be at a loss without nutritional yeast. Though I have to admit aside from the nutritional yeast or normal diet are basic, non-processed, organic foods.

What's the biggest misconception people have about being a vegan or vegetarian?

That vegan children are sickly, scrawny, less active, and that their brains don't fire on all cylinders. People that know our little vegan, say she should be a poster child for the cause. At 8 she has never needed antibiotics and when she does get sick she gets over it after a good days sleep. She has a slender but muscular build, she is active in Tae Kwan Do, plays soccer, and never runs out of energy (literally, and this makes for a very tired mom and dad.) Plus she is currently working at an eighth grade level in every subject except reading, which she dislikes with a passion.

What's your best tip for families who want to start living a vegan or vegetarian lifestyle?

Do your homework on dietary needs. There are certain things that are very difficult to get from a vegan diet and supplements are highly recommended. The clinical information is often dry reading and often hard to follow, so it may be beneficial to ask around in the blogsphere, get advice and pick and choose the ideas that fit in best for your family.
