What inspired you to start blogging?

Thanks to a lifetime of sharing rooms, wardrobes, friends and adventures, my four younger sisters and I have always been absurdly close. But, as any mom knows, life can get crazy. We began moving away, going to school, working real jobs, making babies, generally having our own lives, and -- much to our collective horror -- drifting apart. We started our blog as a joint project, to help us reconnect with each other and keep up with old friends.

How do you keep up with the latest fashions and being a mom?

Oh, I don't, really. I try to be myself -- and occasionally I am a hot mess. Of course, I love the days when my children and my hair behave. But generally, my life just doesn't come together like that. If the house is looking fabulous, maybe it's because I didn't make dinner. If my clothes are cute, maybe I went shopping because the thought of doing one more load of laundry made me want to shut myself in a dark closet and cry. I try not to feel overly guilty about making trade-offs and be confident in who I am.

What are three fashion tips for busy moms?

1. Dress for the body you have now. My baby is one, and I'm still trying to lose weight. From my first pregnancy. But that doesn't mean I should live in muumuus until I'm back in (relatively) skinny pants. Every woman should always have great jeans and at least one dress that makes her feel like a million bucks -- and shouldn't feel bad replacing them when her body changes.
2. Jackets are your friends. I love how a well-cut jacket can perk up jeans and a tee or camouflage an unsightly bulge in an otherwise-adorable dress. If you find something flattering in a light-weight fabric with a little structure, (a.k.a. the Holy Grail of the Postpartum Summer Wardrobe), BUY IT! Perhaps in every color....
3. Sanity is the best accessory. Figure out what you need to stay happy and grounded and give that top priority. Chances are, it has nothing to do with what you're wearing.

What is one practical and fashionable item every mom must have? Please include a link to a photo if you have one.

Confidence. It sounds corny, but whatever you wear will look better if you're not worrying too much about it. After that, I would say color. Whether it's a bright purse, a great necklace, colorful ring, punchy shirt or skirt, it will keep you from getting lost in a sea of black, beige and grey.
