A mom of 7 muses and advises on the joys of homeschooling and parenting a large family.

Did you always want a big family? If not, when did you change your mind?

What's a common misconception about big families?

How many children do you have? What's the age difference between the oldest and youngest?

What's a great theme you've done for your child's birthday? Please share a link with a photo.

Many of the parties that we do for our children, both for school and birthdays revolve around literature we enjoy. With a big family and several birthdays close together we will often combine parties as well. One favorite was the doll fair we did based on the book, A Time To Keep by Tasha Tudor. At this party we had mini carnival snacks and activities with each one costing a penny (we provided each child with a handful). We also had fair entries, children could bring something to display and a small play. This party was a big hit. Recently we did a preschool party based on the Fancy Nancy books. The particular book was about an art exhibit and the children were delighted to mimic the work of famous artists and then set up a display for the parents. Every moment I spend reading and creating with my children is a joy.
