What's the best part of raising a family in SoCal?

The best part of raising a family in SoCal is the close proximity to nearly everything you can imagine. There is so much to see and do in SoCal. You name it: sand or snow - we got it. =) Can I also add that we have gorgeous weather? Feeling blessed.

What's a great destination for a family vacation in SoCal?

We love SoCal beaches and everything SoCal offers. Can I name a few? Catalina Island, Laguna Beach, Santa Barbara, Lake Arrowhead or Big Bear Lake, and San Diego. For attractions: Disneyland, Knotts, LEGOLAND (not in order of preference), and several others.

What do your kids love most about living in SoCal?

I think my kids love living in SoCal for all the reasons above: the beaches are about 15 minutes away; in the winter, we drive about an hour to see snow; in the summer we have several campgrounds to choose from; and let's not forget we have Disneyland, Knotts, LEGOLAND.

What's your best tip for teaching a gradeschooler about money?

Mary K Tran

I think starting them young that everything is earned not given is important. You want something, you have to earn it. When they want something outside of the necessities, they will have to work harder in school, take initiatives, chores without asking, etc. A neighbor told me recently that her 8 year old daughter decided to recycle so I told her where we go. (It's right next to a Stater Bros and they give you a voucher to redeem for groceries or to cash it out there.) A lightbulb went off in both our minds to take our kids there to reward them for their efforts and let them pick out something. What a great idea!
