At what age can kids start trick-or-treating? And by what age should they stop?

I started taking my guys out as babies, not for them, but because it was an excuse to show them off. I'm not sure what the cut off ages should be. Who does not like free candy? I'm thinking grade 7 or 8. I really hate when the teenagers come to the door with their pillowcases. Part of me would like to berate them at the door, but the part that does not enjoy having my house egged gives them the stinky candy.Should you push your child to stick with activities?
Tristan Lindsay
We really encourage our kids to join after school activities. They pick out what they would like to take part in. If part way through they decide they do not like this activity, we make them see it through until the end of the class (usually 8 weeks). That way they learn if they really like the activity, because sometimes you do not know right away, and they learn that if they commit to something they have to see it through to the end, like it or not. What are some fun alternatives to candy for passing out on Halloween? Please provide a short description and a link to an image or recipe.

For Halloween I traditionally make Candy Apples. I make sure that I put a tag on them that says my name and address, and only give them to the kids that I know (that way they won't get put in the trash. I also like to pick up the mini Playdoughs that are available this time of year, and give them to the littlest trick or treaters. What makes a great family holiday card? To me a great family card includes a recent picture, and a family news letter. I really enjoy writing out family letter, and looking over the year in retrospect. It honestly takes me about a week to write our letter. Prior to "blogging" my family newsletter looked not unlike a novel. My family newsletter, looks a little like a newspaper. I try to include lots of pictures that correspond with what we did. My family who live far away really appreciate being kept up to date, and my elderly relatives really enjoy the reading material that features the faces of those that they love. You know you're a mom when... My favourite thing to do in the snow, is watch my husband play with the kids in the snow, from the comfort of the warm and cozy house. I hate winter! My husbands job is to take the kids out sledding, and building forts, all things that require getting cold. I stay inside, and when I see them marching in make a batch of chocolate chip cookies and hot chocolate with whip cream on top... I can't let him take all of the credit. How do you help your older children with fears?
Tristan Lindsay
My kids are unfortunately fear based kids. I encourage them to do things that scare them just a little. They discover that the things that they felt too afraid to do, weren't so scary after they had done them.Tristan's Blogger SoundOff Posts
