How I Combine Being a Mom and Taking Care of My Health

I know that exercise not only keeps me physically healthy so that I can keep up with my child, but it keeps me mentally healthy as well. Exercise is a mental cleanser for me and a HUGE stress reliever. It makes me a better mother, so I just know that I have to find the time and take the time to exercise! Exercise is not optional for me, its all about carving out the time for yourself.

Three Health & Fitness Tips for Busy Moms

1. Take time for yourself. A lot of mothers feel guilty for taking any time away from their families to exercise. Find the time, 30 minutes is not a lot of time in the grand scheme of things! It will make you a more effective (and healthy!) parent. Break up your workouts in segments if you cant devote a 30min/1 hour chunk of time to working out. Do 2 or 3 mini workouts through out the day.
2. Find ways to involve your children in your exercise routine. Whether its using a jogging stroller or having them join in your exercise routine, exercise while at the park. Find a way to get them involved as well. Not only will this help you multitask on the days where time seems short, it will also help instill a healthy active lifestyle in your children.
3. 3. Find something you LOVE! If you don't LOVE it, you won't stick with it. Try everything you can think of until you find that one thing that really excites you. Constantly mix things up. I'm primarily a runner, but I also swim and bike. That's how I got into doing triathlons. Now I have 3 options for those times when the other activities seem stale.
