Turning Life into Play in San Francisco. An actress' story of raising 3 girls in the city.

What's the best part of raising a family in NorCal?

I vowed when I was younger that I would never live in California and that San Francisco was just "too windy". All that changed when I met my husband who was born and raised in San Francisco. His love for his city and this part of the country was infectious.

There is so much to do in this area both culturally and out in nature. Within a short drive or walk from our apartment are amazing hikes, museums, art exhibits, restaurants, parks and the wonderful diversity that is such a part of the NorCal fabric.

What's the biggest misconception about living in NorCal?

That it is too expensive.

My husband and I have a very modest income and we are able to fully enjoy this area and all that it has to offer.

Sure... some things are more pricey than other regions, but we have found ways to save and I really feel it all balances out.

What do your kids love most about living in NorCal?

I don't really know the exact answer to this. I feel this will be something that will change over the years.

Our oldest wants to live in the country or Paris when she grows up. She loves going to museums, shops, all the parks and her dance classes.

Our middle child (age 6) loves the ocean and would stay there all day if she could.

Our baby is just enjoying going wherever her sisters go.
