Plus 1 Please

After a year of trying to conceive and two losses, we were blessed with our baby boy in April 2012. My video blog documented our journey to parenthood and now I share my daily adventures in figuring things out as a first time mom.

Where do you find vlogging inspiration?

I vlog about my every day life as a mom, so inspiration comes from things that happen in our day to day lives. I capture milestones, memories, and family outings, but also turn to the camera to "vlog it out" when I'm having a rough day or something more serious is going in our lives. I share the ups and downs of motherhood, and truly value the friendships I've built through vlogging and the feedback I get from viewers.

What tips would you give a mom who wants to start video blogging?

My biggest tip for moms interested in video blogging is to be yourself. Giving people a glimpse in to your life on video is a bit different than in a written (blogging) format because it's more difficult to "cover up" things you may be trying to hide. Be genuine. Every mom has a different parenting style and way of doing things. Own your style, and don't be afraid to show your true self.

How do you balance vlogging and motherhood?

I started vlogging while trying to conceive my first child in 2010 and shared my entire journey from pregnancy loss to the eventual birth of my son in April 2012. Vlogging has always been an outlet for me, and my most favorite "hobby." I make vlogging a priority for myself because I truly enjoy it and it's "me time." There are times where I find it difficult to vlog with a baby throwing toys everywhere, grabbing for the camera or getting in to trouble in the background. So long as he's not hurting himself, I usually let him carry on with the chaos in the background because, hey, that's real life. Other times, I stick him in the carrier and vlog while I wear him.
